The Safari Zones of Jim Corbett

Every package above draws on one or more of these zones — pick by how deep into the jungle you want to go, and what time of year you're travelling.

Dhikala
The largest, most famous zone. Grasslands, the Ramganga reservoir, and the reserve's best tiger and elephant sightings. Open mid-Nov to mid-June.
Bijrani
Just 1km from Ramnagar. Open grasslands and dense sal forest — the most popular zone for a day safari.
Jhirna
Open all year, even through monsoon. Drier terrain, good for tigers and wild boar.
Dhela
A newer buffer-zone addition, quieter than the core zones and easy on the budget.
Durga Devi
Hilly terrain along the Ramganga, best known among birders for its rich variety of species.
Garjia & Sitabani
Temple stops on the Kosi and a quiet forest zone — easy add-ons between safaris.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dhikala offers the richest overall wildlife experience but requires an overnight stay. Bijrani is closest to Ramnagar and great for a single day safari. Jhirna stays open year-round, including monsoon, when Dhikala and Bijrani are closed.
November to June is the main season, with peak sightings from March to June as water sources shrink and animals gather near rivers. Most core zones close from July to mid-November during monsoon, though Jhirna and Dhela stay open.
A jeep (Gypsy) safari seats up to 6 and can move more freely through the park, making it better for serious wildlife viewing. A canter safari is shared, more affordable, and mainly used for Dhikala zone visits.
